Feminist Photo Commentaries - Ozurgeti/Kutaisi/Gori

Reading time: 1 minute

We present to you photos, brought together by the participants of our project "Feminist Photography Workshop" from three different Georgian cities - Ozurgeti, Kutaisi and Gori. For most of the authors, this was a first attempt at a photography project and visually expressing their own vision of gender problems.

The environment, which they would like to portray, has been broken in two. This divide is especially palpable in areas, where the development of the value system begins at an early age - for instance, in kindergartens. This "pink" and "blue" world is precisely symbolic of the stereotypes, according to which, the roles, functions and goals of women and men are entirely different and antagonistic. The authors of our project try to convey the artificiality of this gender binary and, simultaneously, draw attention to such issues as normative gender roles and the everyday life of women artists in regions.
