Susanna Gyulamiryan

Education: Linguist (Yerevan State University) Art Curator, Critic - Freelance Studies on Contemporary Art Theory, Practices and Curatorship in Moscow Art Centers of Contemporary Art.

Position: President of the Art and Cultural Studies Laboratory, Artistic Director of the “Art Commune” International Artist-in-Residence Program.

Research Interests: Epistemological and philosophical issues of the “other”, examination of biopolitics, gender and feminism in contemporary art practices. The topic of participatory art and “social turn” at large in art practices of Armenia and abroad.

Biography: 

Susanna Gyulamiryan is art curator and critic, who has been working in Armenia and internationally. She collaboratively founded non-governmental organization “Art and Cultural Studies Laboratory” (ACSL- www.acsl.am), where she is the appointed president. Since 2006, she is a member of AICA – Armenia (International Association of Art Critics).

More than ten years, Susanna Gyulamiryan has held courses in Cultural and Gender Studies at the Armenian Open University, Department of Fine Arts (International Academy of Education) and gave a course of Gender Studies for MA students at the Yerevan State University, Department of Culturology.
She is a nominator of the International Biennale Prize Council of outstanding achievements in Art and Politics launched by the Vera List Center for Art and Politics at the New School, New-York.
