Gender Quotas

We are all women and if we want to change something, we must stand in solidarity with women who works to fight violence against women. 

Currently, we are working on another version of the bill. The new project will introduce gender-based quotas for both lists: majoritarian as well as proportional one. 

"Even if we introduce gender-base quotas, political parties will not promote women immediately. A month or even two weeks prior to elections, a certain number of people, selected by the party leader, will appear on the list and women will be just among them."  

Discussions about representation crisis in the Georgian Parliament has been increased among advocacy groups during the recent years. I claim, that these discussions lacked normative rethinking of the following: Why should women be represented in the parliament? And what threats does their invisibility imply for the democracy?
