On November 21, 2017 South Caucasus Regional Office of the Heinrich Boell Foundation hosted a debate, where findgs of the analysis, made under the project Read Politics have been presented.

Analysis of the pre-election campaigns during the 2017 local elections in Georgia highlights that political debates transformed into the competetion of masculinities, which had to prove the winner based on the masculine hierarchies.  

"What I always expected from a female politician was more sensitivity towards the gender related issues. This expectation turned our to be very naive."

2017 local elections in Georgia proved that women's and gender issues are in view of political agenda, but political campaigns still follow traditional, masculine ways to do politics.

"For the sake of strengthening of women's political participation, it is very important to guarantee that women do not appear in the party lists only before election period".
